Treatment of personal data and financial information
Liberty BVG/LPP Collective Foundation (“Libertyâ€) recognises that the personal data and financial information (the “Informationâ€) which you may send to Liberty's website (the â€Websiteâ€) via internet is sensitive and should be treated accordingly. This Privacy Policy (the “Policyâ€) sets out the appropriate protective procedures put in place by Liberty to safeguard and secure the Information.
The Website may contain links to other websites which are not operated by Liberty and over which Liberty has no control (“third-party websitesâ€). The Policy relates only to the Website. Liberty is not responsible for the content of third-party websites or for their data protection practices.
The Policy may be updated from time to time. The last paragraph of the Policy indicates when it was last updated.
The Policy does not affect the provisions of any agreement which you have concluded or may conclude with Liberty. Such agreements take precedence over the Policy.
Data transmission and cross-border data flow
You should be aware that the internet is basically not a secure environment and that information transmitted via internet may be accessed by unauthorised third parties, which could result in the disclosure of such information or changes in its contents, or in technical breakdowns. Even if both the sender and the recipient are in the same country, the information exchanged via internet may still transit across national borders. Such information may reach countries with lower data protection standards than those in the sender's country of residence.
Liberty cannot assume any responsibility or liability for the security of the Information transmitted to it via internet. You may communicate with us by other means where you deem fit for data protection purposes.
In certain circumstances, Liberty transmits the Information as encrypted data (for example, in the case of the vested benefit transaction service). In that case, you will be advised separately. All vested benefit transaction communications are encoded using a 128-bit encryption technique.
Data processing and use of data for marketing purposes
Liberty does not collect any personal information on the Website other than that expressly and knowingly made available by you. In that case, we may use such personal information for marketing products and services which we think you may find interesting.
Liberty may use individual cookies to remember data, such as IP addresses or session numbers, about the use of the Website. The cookies serve primarily to manage or compile demographic data and to monitor the use and performance of the Website. Cookies can also be used to make the Website easier for you to use (by remembering passwords during a session, for example, or by recording your choice of country of residence).
Data protection
Within the website, your personal data is transmitted and stored in a secure environment. We take all appropriate steps to ensure that your personal data is not accessible to third parties. Excepted are any third parties directed by Liberty to deliver services to you. Otherwise, data will only be disclosed to third parties if we are required by law to do so.
